Gating, or respitory gating

Gating is a process often associated with breath hold where the treatment machines treatment times are being controlled by the device tracking the patient breathing. The idea being the machine will only be on and treating when the taget volume is within the treatment beam, as the patient breathes and the taget volumes moves out of the beam the machine will halt treatment.
