Proton radiotherapy

Commonly used radiotherapy is composed of photon or electron treatment. Electrons are typically used for skin or very close to skin surface treatments while photons allow for deeper body treatments. Protons also allow for deeper treatments with the main differentiating factor being photons will continue through the body whereas protons will go to a certain depth and stop thus allowing for sparing of the tissue and organs beyond the target.
