RTO/RPO

RTO (Recovery Time Objective) is the estimated duration of time to restore a system or business service to its fullly operational state. RPO (Recovery Point Objective) is the maximum acceptable interval during which transactional data is lost from an IT service.

The closer RTO and RPO values are to zero, the highest is the protection agains data loss and downtime. Defining RTO and RPO is a good practive before designing and implementing any IT infrastructure. Definition of proper policies for cybersecurity, backup, business continuity, failover and redundancy is the key factor to implement a successful environment.
